Document writing is most remunerative job in Kerala

Please visit the registration department website. It has listed the permitted fees for document writers

In this age of computers document writing is just document editing and printing; it is not a tedious work at all. Just fill in the forms from the computer and take printouts. why should they be paid so high for this small work? for a document for propert
y valued above Rs.8 Lakh a document writer is paid Rs.7500 plus other charges (and most of them and almost all never gives receipt for the work). Any property these days values more than Rs.8 Lakh. Why should society be fleeced in this day light robbery.

A school teacher in a private school gets only that much working for a whole month. A B.Ed college teacher gets only twice even with a lifetime experience of teaching. A document writer earns in just 1-2 hours what a school teacher earns in one month. This Kerala is held at ransom by organised workers and people like these.

In Kerala 90% of teachers did not clear teacher eligibility test.

THESE TEACHERS HAVE NO RIGHT TO SCOLD STUDENTS OR ASSESS THEM. THEY ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO BE TEACHERS
Kerala's supposed educational prowess took another blow when results of the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET), mandatory under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act, were announced on Thursday. The state's performance is below the already dismal national average of 7%.

Just 9.48% candidates in the lower primary category cleared the test, while 4.19% passed in the upper primary category. In the high school category it was a dismal 3.17%. The board which conducted the exams has announced a cash award of Rs 20, 000 for those who bagged over 80% marks in the TET. Jithinjith P A (Wayanad), Ann Mary Joy (Kottayam) and Minu G S (Thiruvananthapuram) are eligible for the awards.

Any postgraduate with 55% marks can be an examiner in Calicut University- Well Done CU

Well Done, Calicut University!! Good Move.. The academic scene is under occupation of a handful of regular teachers who draw UGC scale salaries. They have monopolised every aspect of education, and have been acting like a mafia..Some of them write text books and sell it through University society and mis-utlising their position. In many streams, almost 90% of teachers are unaided/ self ainancing/ private teachers drawing poor remuneration and it is just 10% of teachers who are regular teachers. The regular teachers even stop career growth and employment opportunities of the poor private/self financing teachers. They managed to get the lecturer posts in govt. training colleges for themselves by making these posts as "by transfer" posts (thus excluding the general candidates in PSC recruitment). The principals and the faculty of the 4 govt. B.Ed colleges under government are like royal kings of the bygone era, as they are members in large number of committees that decide the future of Kerala students. They have been arrogant enough to convince the UGC that there are terrible shortage of qualified faculty members in order to get themselves appointed after retirement. The educated youth in Kerala and India who are UGC qualified and even Doctorate qualified do not get any opportunity for employment at all. In Kerala the situation of Education UGCC-NET holders is such that there is no single opportunity available for them to get permanent employment based on merit. The minority of teachers who are regularly employed are too greedy and they want more and more for themselves.

The excerpt from article by , TNN | Sep 22, 2012 in TOI in the above link

KOZHIKODE: In an unprecedented move, theCalicut University has decided to entrust the evaluation of answer scripts of degree and postgraduate examinations of private students with non-teachers in complete violation of the provisions of the varsity statutes and ordinances.
As per the new decision, a postgraduate degree with 55% marks is what it takes to become an examiner in the varsity. The university will prepare a panel of examiners to evaluate the answer scripts of private students, after an interview.
The decision of the university syndicate on Thursday has raised eyebrows among the academic community as chapter- 4 of the CU First Ordinances 1978 clearly says that "teaching experience in an affiliated college or university' is a musthave for appointment as examiners."
University officials justified the decision as the valuation of thousands of answer sheets are held up due to lack of regular college teachers who are willing to take up valuation work. The huge number of private students under varsity was making the valuation process an unwieldy exercise. Higher secondary school teachers and parallel college teachers will also be considered for appointment as examiners, they said.
"The varsity is forced to take the decision, as regular college teachers who are getting UGC scale salaries no longer find the remuneration of Rs 10 per answer paper attractive," Dr T P Ahmed, member of the Syndicate examination standing committee told TOI. "We are looking for people with post graduate degree, preferably those who have passed out within the last five years, as they will be more abreast with the latest developments in the field," he said.
"Currently there is a delay of four months in the valuation which has cost many students an academic year," Ahmed added. The university senate will have to amend the statutes to implement the decision.
Meanwhile, the decision has startled many in the academic community. "The decision violates all standards of academic propriety as in reality it will amount to entrusting the critical valuation process with a bunch of unemployed postgraduates. Just getting 55% marks will not qualify a person to evaluate the degree and PG level examinations. Only those with requisite teaching experience will be able to conduct the valuation and it is absurd to entrust the valuation of answer scripts with non- teachers," said K P Muraleedharan, dean of commerce and management studies and former president of the Association of Calicut University Teachers (ACT).
Student organizations also think the decision is yet another instance of the varsities discrimination against the private students. "How can the varsity has different valuation standards for the private students who are awarded the same degree by the university," SIO state president Shihab Pookottur asked.

Sutharya Keralam: Requesting to open 'by transfer' posts to open merit candidates in Lecturer recruitment

This complaint is with respect to appointment of lecturers in Government Colleges of Teacher Education under Collegiate Education department.
In appointing Lecturers in the the four government B.Ed colleges the government employed teachers are alone given opportunity by adopting 'By transfer' criteria and only if candidates are  not available in that category the posts are made available for open category. This is grave injustice to unemployed UGC NET holders in the State because there are no other opportunities for open candidates  with UGC NET qualification for obtaining goverment jobs as teacher educators. There is no reason for making B.Ed college Lecturer posts alone in the 'by transfer' category; it may be noted that, for appointment of Lecturers in chemistry, history or physics in government colleges there is no 'by transfer' criteria like this.
Besides, I wish to bring to your kind attention that UGC-NET holders in Education in Kerala (90% of them are women candidates) are working on temporary or contract basis with no job security, pension, medical benefit or allowances or Promotions and poor pay that is not enough for a decent livelihood. The aided colleges are using their discretion for selection of faculty members.  The private and self financing colleges constitute 90% of B.ed colleges in the State.

Under this situation, I request your good office to kindly intervene urgently and remove the 'By transfer' criteria for appointment for appointment to government college of teacher educations under Collegiate Education departmentand give equal opportunity to open merit candidates without favoring those already in government service as done at present.

Dismiss government and aided B.Ed college teachers and recruit them as contract teachers -let their be equality

Dr. Ramakrishnan is advocating for the interest of the privileged government teachers who snatch away most of the resources in the education sector, that is highly discriminatory towards the private and self financing college teachers. It is shameful that he is trying to vest with government / aided college teachers, who constitute just a small proportion of teacher educators (<10%), all rights and privilages, and failing to see that the teachers of the private and self financing B.Ed colleges, though equally qualified, suffer from very poor service conditions without job security, promotions, designations as 'Professors', 'Readers' etc., no pay scale and just small consolidated pay with no allowances or pension, etc.

Ninety percent of B.Ed college teachers in the State work in the private /self financing sectors and they are deprived of all the facilities that their counterparts in government and aided colleges enjoy. Even though the teachers of the private and self financing colleges are qualified equally as that of government college teachers and even more, even their services are not recognized - a clear case of human rights violation and discrimination.

Ninety percent of B.Ed teachers are lady teachers and they are not organised into associations and lack political clout. Their employments are highly insecure and they are exploited by the private managements and the university. But they do not dare to speak against the injustices meted out to them. Even their teaching experiences are not recognized by the PSC or University and as a result the teachers working in the aided and govt. department always get upper hand in recruitments to university posts of faculty members and administration. What right have the teachers in government /aided colleges to keep for themselves all privileges and get paid high salaries in UGC scale with pension, while 90% of teachers in the State do not get just a small fraction of what they get.

It is high time that government and the Universities stop discriminatory treatment between teachers of private/self financing and of govt./aided colleges. All teachers with qualifications prescribed by the UGC, whether working in the private or aided or government or self financing colleges, must be equally treated for the purpose of salary and service conditions, promotions, privileges, and every other aspect. Otherwise, the government and the universities should stop paying high salaries and give better service conditions to their favoured 'permanent' teachers of government and aided colleges, dismiss them and recruit them as contract teachers with consolidated small pay at par with the private /self financing college teachers. Let all suffer equally !!

UGC Rules but no UGC pay -teacher exploitation

The teachers of private /self financing colleges need not be imposed UGC rules because they do not get paid UGC salaries and service conditions. they are appointed on contract basis, exploited, with meager consolidated pay and no allowances and pension. First treat them at par with UGC teachers and pay them at par and then talk about their duties and responsibilities

Times of India News says:

Government looting the public for paying UGC faculty members

An article in Mathrubhumi daily at the following link shows the hefty pay that the college teachers who are permanent and UGC salary holders get. This is happening when most of the teachers in the private sector and those employed in contract basis in the government sector are exploited and paid consolidated little amount without any pension, allowances, job security, or anything.

The college teachers in the private/self-financing sector and those employed on contract basis constitute the major chuck of teachers. Government are not bothered about their plight. The institutions pay them only small consolidated amount every month.

The communist government under Achyuthanandan was eager to give UGC scales of pay to permanent college teachers working in government and aided sector but did not bother about those in the private and self financing sectors

The present government of Sri.Umman Chandi is also generous and they have also decided to revise the pay of permanent college teachers. See the links below

Unaided B.Ed College Teachers Teaching Experience not counted -human rights violation

The teaching experience of unaided / self financing teachers is not counted while recruiting faculty members in the Kerala University. This was revealed when information was sought vide RTI 2005 Act. This is gross injustice to the unemployed youth in the State and the Country.

Teachers of unaided/self-financing colleges with many years of teaching experience and administrative experience as Principals are at a disadvantage while trying for teaching post in the University departments.

Those who have already employed thus get advantage in faculty recruitment. The teachers with UGC qualification (UGC_NET)and even Ph.D in Education are unable to get a government post because 90% of B.Ed colleges in the State are in the private /self- financing sectors. These colleges are run with the approval of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

It may be noted that there are only 4 B.Ed colleges in the Government sector and 17 in the Aided sector. The rest 200 above colleges are private / self financing colleges. It is not possible for qualified youth in Kerala to become teacher educator (meaning B.Ed college teacher)because the opportunities for employment is NIL. In the 4 government colleges the general candidates are appointed only if candidates working in the government are not available for appointment in 'By Transfer' category in the PSC recruitment. The aided college appointments are based not on merit but on caste /community /Donation considerations mainly.

Thus it is great injustice to unemployed eligible youth by sealing off all government employment opportunities to them and even declining their hard earned teaching / administrative experience in the private institutions.

School administrators want all students to become Dr. Abdul Kalam like scientists in future!

That is why they make the curriculum so tough for the hapless students and parents. All the things that are unwanted in life are taught in the schools. The goal is to make all students scientists, engineers and doctors.
But the reality is that only less than 5 percent of indian population will become scientists, doctors or engineers and the rest has to do other jobs, whether they like it or not. Then why should the 90% of students who would not become scientists, engineers or doctors be spared of this torture at school -being forced to learn so tough subjects written by Coolie teachers of SCERT in substandard English
Given below is an excerpt from the social science text book of Class X in State syllabus.
"The Renaissance ideas of rationalism and
humanism were repeated in the age of
Enlightenment also. Enlightenment was an
advancement in the intellectual activities of
man which tried to explain the natural world
and the role of man in it in the light of
rationalism. The conflict between religious
faith and rationalism was the feature of
Enlightenment. The Enlightenment thinkers
tried to understand and explain things in the
light of reason based on facts and evidences."
Have you understood anything? I am a person with post graduation from some premier institutions and who scored 96 percentile in the GMAT exam. I myself find this content and language obnoxious. It is sure to make children hate history itself and run away from the subject if someone mentions the word itself.
Why do our educational administrators take some sincere effort to make textbooks in such a way that the contents are presented in a more comprehensible manner using good English?

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is punishing children and parents alike

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) increased the workload on students and teachers. Students have to spend many many hours at home to prepare projects. They have to widely refer internet and they often copy contents without knowing what it is. They make drawings for projects without even knowing what they are. The burden is transferred to parents who have to heavily help their children to get good marks. Students performance are reflection of parents education, time, and family help they receive. The text books of SSA are stupid without any contents. Under the premises of stimulating critical thinking they have simply filled the text books with insignificant rubbish and no real contents. For contents they have to refer the internet or go to tuitions or depend on parents. Those poor kids who cannot afford the internet are in pathetic frustrating situation. The bags of school children have become very very heavy.

The entire education system is screwed up and much worse that what it was 30-40 years back.. morons are at the helm of affairs

SHAMELESS SCERT TREATS PRINCIPAL EQUIVALENT TO SWEEPER AND POEN

You can see from the above form how these people treat a principal who are on contract staff. They have no respect for teaching profession and discriminates Principals and teachers on contract staff.

There is a government organisation full of corruption and nepotism called SCERT..They do not distinguish between a Principal and a sweeper.. They do not recruit people through Public Service Commission; instead they have their own sinister recruitment methods.. From SCERT website I got a pdf file in which a form for collection of remuneration is given; Principal, poen and sweeper are treated without any difference..see for yourself the following form given in Kerala SCERT website of Open School  http://www.openschool.kerala.gov.in/

The District Co-ordinator of Open School under SCERT is paid just Rs.11,000/-. Even daily wage labourers get much more than this in Kerala. These inhuman bosses in the SCERT higher ups are so burgoise type people that they fail to understand that District Coordinator is a human being who has to feed his/her children and send them to school. These sort of bureaucrats are responsible for the rise in naxalism. These bosses of SCERT are the direct descendants of the British Raj and Slave Kingdoms. These bosses earn fat salaries and perks from State Government and UGC. They do not pay the miserable poor guys a decent livelihood for their hard work and treat SCERT as if it is their ancestral property.

UGC Professors vs. teachers of self financing colleges

Salary disparity of Teachers -UGC vs. Self financing

Abraham Lincoln's Letter to his Son's Teacher

He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.
But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish Politician,
there is a dedicated leader…
Teach him for every enemy there is a friend,

Steer him away from envy,
if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that
the bullies are the easiest to lick…
Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books…

But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him
it is far honourable to fail
than to cheat…
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong…
Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.

Try to give my son
the strength not to follow the crowd
when everyone is getting on the band wagon…
Teach him to listen to all men…
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.

Teach him if you can,
how to laugh when he is sad…
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness…
Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.

Teach him to close his ears
to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have the courage
to be impatient…
let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.

This is a big order,
but see what you can do…
He is such a fine little fellow,
my son!

RTE Judgement of Supreme Court...great

The Supreme Court has upheld the constitutional validity of the Right to Education Act, saying all schools must give 25 per cent free seats to the poor. Is this a blow against elitism in education? Or is this, as many private schools have argued, simply not practical?

Senior University Professors creating impediments to new recruitment

Only death can get rid of these Professors not retirement -Educational Institutions are being made ancestral properties of the faculty members

Only death can get rid of these Professors who are working in the educational institutions in the country. By the time they reach retirement age they would have developed sufficient political clout to evade retirement. They will be continued as Directors of academic institutions under the Universities until they die. They get post -retirement employment along with their pension.

The educated youth in this country is cheated. These Professors, while working in the University, do everything they could to ensure that they are re-employed there itself. Their latest strategy is to encourage the University managements to establish self financing colleges and avoid recruitment of permanent faculty members. It is similar to the natural phenomenon that, in a herd of Lions the male Lion always tries to kill male cubs to prevent competitions in future. Universities are converted to jungles by these vested interest Professors.

The self financing colleges are shops that insult the teaching profession and the teaching community. These institutions are run by University clerks to keep a watch over the faculty members there who are appointed on hire and fire contract basis. The permanent professors, after retirement has an eye on the positions of Director-ship or Principal posts of these institutions where the other faculty members are mostly women employed on contract.

Thus the UGC Professors have established a mafia in the academic circles to prevent employment opportunities for the youth for their own selfish interests

Textbook writing Professors hamper curriculum improvement

In some Universities like the University of Calicut, there are Professors who write lot of Textbooks, which are actually not different from guides. They push their text books using the University facilities available to them such as University cooperative society and earn so much income out of this book sales. The worst thing about this profit making business is that they hamper development of subject. For example, in the entire State of Kerala the school curriculum follows SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) method of teaching but the B.Ed curriculum does not reflect this. The textbooks and the curriculum remained stagnant. The powerful text book writer lobby could be behind this.

With eye on profit making alone these text book writing Professors write textbooks not only on their own areas of competency, but also on nearly all the subjects beyond their comprehension by 'tying up' with other lesser known writers. Thus it is a classic example of mutual-ism in ecology in which both the teams benefit out of this arrangement.

These Professors lobby have been influential in the University Administration and they set up what is known as Self Financing Colleges meaning Colleges that profit out of low paid teachers appointed on contract basis. These Professors lobby, whose interest is selling textbooks, visit the self financing institutions for delivering lectures/ guest talks/ seminars etc. and in the process give publicity to their books and even distribute their books.. Thus Universities have been reduced into business enterprises where a minority of bourgeois in the garb of Professors stop development of faculty, improvement of curriculum and hamper educational growth, doing great injustice to the children of this land.

At a shop near a self financing college directly run by the University of Calicut, a teacher points at her institution and tells the shopkeeper, "that is another shop just like yours; you sell provisions and they sell education. They have no regard to the profession of teaching or respect for teachers; Even the peon and sweeper of these colleges are permanent employees with all sorts of government salary and benefits but the teachers are appointed on contract basis on hire and fire policy and they treat the teachers as their orderlies".

The UGC salary earning Professors in the Universities have plenty of spare time at their disposal which some of them utilise for making money running their own businesses. Clever Professors actually utilise the facilities provided by the University to become Book Tycoons. None of them have any interest in establishing a great culture in the University or even in good administration.

Globalisation has increased the wealth of Indians and progress. Educational enterprises like Universities, that traditionally played crucial role in development of manpower and responsible citizens, are at present mere teaching enterprises. The value of teachers have depleted and they are just like any other employee. Students of India will soon stop calling the teachers 'Sir' or 'Maam', as teaching as a profession is degraded into mere business rather than institutions inculcating values, patriotism and morals and the Professors have a great role to play in this.

Problems in teacher recruitment

Teachers can get appointment in government schools through a cumbersome route..

Government schools: Graduation ---> B.Ed---> TET ----> PSC test
(appointment occurs once in a decade or two..large interval between PSC tests)

Aided schools: Graduation ---> B.Ed---> TET ----> interview
(donation, influence, caste/community factors taken into account)

Unaided Schools: Graduation ---> B.Ed---> TET (?!!) ----> Interview
(very poor salary and service conditions)

The pre-service training, that is, B.Ed course is not just sufficient to become teacher. One has to pass teacher eligibility test.

The TET may impact B.Ed course. Teacher trainees may be busy preparing for TET while doing B.Ed. It is likely that the B.Ed colleges turn into TET coaching centers.

No more theory paper in ICT in schools ...great step

Teacher Education In India blog has brought up the poor teaching methodology adopted in schools to the notice of the authorities.
The response of the authorities was very positive and progressive.

SUMMING UP
In response to the blogpost on wrong way of teaching IT at school, the IT Executive Director Sri. Anvar Sadat said that "

"What you have shown is the way in which a teacher or student is NOT supposed to go through..".
He told that the wrong methodology is followed in unaided schools only and lakhs of school teachers have been trained on ICT already..
"We have started ICT Enabled education in 2009-10 in 8th standard. ( pl see the Text book at Revised ICT textbook for standard 8 - Malayalam - English and a report in The Hindu athttps://www.itschool.gov.in/innewsImages/172_vvqicuc.jpg )
We have given clear instructions and detailed training to teachers on how to teach this text book. As per the circular from DPI, a teacher who hasn't got this training was/is not supposed to teach this text book. i am happy to inform you that we were able to train 25000 + teachers for Class 8 so far.. "

IT Director has assured to take steps to improve the curriculum of ICT in schools in unaided schools also.

It was heartening to note that the authorities have accepted that the methodology of teaching IT raised in the previous blog as defective and was not the intended methodology. In this regard the IT secretary replied as follows:

"We never envisages / disseminated the sort of 'What is a computer Monitor', 'How to open a document file' etc etc and consider such activities that are happening in all most all other streams as 'cyber crime'. Pl see the report about ICT intervention in Primary levels athttps://www.itschool.gov.in/innewsImages/222_ppabtmm.jpg and I am sure that you'll appreciate the text books we have prepared for the same."
Besides, the IT Director also assured that " that from the coming year onwards no students in the state stream need have to appear for written examination in ICT"

I appreciate the officers concerned for prompt responses to the issues raised and observing the seriousness of the issue and also positively responding to the matter.

SCERT has not been advertising posts.. Is there irregularities in recruitment? letter to SCERT Director

To
The Director
SCERT, Thiruvananthapuram

Sir,

Someone close to me has been working in B.Ed training colleges since last 15 yrs. She has good career record with M.Sc, M.Ed, UGC (NET) and Ph.D (Edu). She has been waiting for an opportunity to enter into teaching career in Education but could not find one till now.

She had applied for recruitment in SCERT around 1999-2001 when vacancies were advertised but even qualified candidates were not called for interview. Was there any appointment to those posts?? Why SCERT is not making appointment through PSC?
Out of the 220 plus B.Ed colleges, all except 17 aided colleges and 4 government colleges are in the private sector and self financing sector run directly by universities. They employ teacher on contract basis and pay small salaries only. There is no job security, no allowances, no pension or not even medical allowances. One can get job in one of the 17 aided colleges only by influencing, or money power or caste power.
PSC conducted recruitment to the Government training colleges but the priority was given to 'by transfer' candidates who are already employed in the government institutions.

The SCERT, as I know, have not advertised any vacancy since last 15 years even though it is involved deeply in the field of teacher training and research. It is also heard that you had appointed faculty by giving permanent employment to those who were working on contract basis there. If it is so, it is plain corruption, and challenging the democratic system of the country and the recruitment system through the public service commission. I would like to know more about this.

The SCERT website does not reveal any job opportunities there. Most of the links in that website lead nowhere. A section on "announcement" too has broken links. It is teasing the public, such an important organisation with important activities functioning without transparency to the public.

Why SCERT is avoiding those who have high qualifications on UGC NET on Education and also PhD in Education etc. and recruit through internal arrangements to the plum posts of lecturers and other positions there?

I am interested to know more about the functioning of SCERT with respect to recruitment policy, whether it has been fairly recruiting faculty and other officers to various positions, why it is avoiding the qualified teacher educators working in the private and self financing sector who have UGC NET and PhD in Education, in its training activities.

Is there corruption in the organisation with respect to appointments?

Yours truly

Sreekumar B

TET for teachers of unaided must follow regulations to ensure remuneration at par with govt/aided teachers

I searched for the Government Order for TET and found it HERE.

The teachers in the Government institutions are right now selected based on PSC tests. So TET is set as part of minimum qualifications to attend for the PSC test, I think. That is good.

I agree with the Government stance that -"Government have the academic responsibility to ensure that a teacher appointed should possess the minimum qualification  for teacher"

The appointments to aided institutions at present is based on the amount of money that the candidate pays as "donation" (a veiled bribe in broad daylight -selling government post by managements to make money..daylight robbery). At least I believe that TET will ensure that the ones appointed as teachers will be having minimum eligibility and capacity to occupy the post.

But what about the teachers of the unaided institutions. The government has not been considering them as part of the education system; They are paid only a pittance of what the government and aided school teachers get. So burdening them with TET and other qualifications without ensuring that they are paid like human beings at par with the former guys is inhuman and the Government have the responsibility to ensure their remuneration at par with the aided and government institutions.

Government ignoring unaided/self financing institutions

The government officials on the top fail to recognise that unaided and self financing institutions are also important part of the education in the State.
Please visit the web portal of Directorate of Collegiate Education named The Scholar.
at http://www.thescholar.kerala.gov.in/thescholar/main/teacher_tabpane_2.php

If a college 'teacher' (not even called lecturer) from unaided college or self financing institution tries to register there is no provision for registration. The options given are:
Engineering Colleges
Freelance
Government/aided colleges
Medical Colleges
University departments
Veterinary colleges
No Unaided/ Self-Financing Institution Option

The education department bosses do not recognise that unaided/self financing colleges are part of the education system. In most areas the government/aided institutions constitute only a minor portion of the whole. The majority of the public is catered by unaided/self financing institutions.
In teacher education government and aided colleges constitute only less than10% of the colleges. The rest 90% of the unaided/self financing colleges are catering to the educational needs of the State. Yet this sector is neglected. The States resources are shared among the few government and aided colleges and the rest 90% are not even considered as colleges and the faculty members working in these institutions are not given any privileges at all.
The officials are cleverly closing their eyes towards the existence of unaided/ self financing institutions and pretend that it is not their responsibility... They fail to see that their duty is governance and the whole education system comes under governance of the State. The State cannot ignore the majority sector and leave it to the private players. The teachers and human resources in these colleges are also important part of the system

SCERT website is not updated. Links leading nowhere

Websites are important communication links in the modern times. Government websites need to be updated to enable public to get information and transact important details with the Government.

I visited SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) website (http://www.scert.kerala.gov.in/) and went to important Links page. I found that most of the links are not working or are leading to irrelevant sites.
I have taken pains to test the links of the websites given and the results I found are given below. The red highlighted links do not work at all. And please click the link of NIEPA (an important institution in Delhi); it takes you to some private website; and so does the link of NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education)
Please click the links listed in the webpage below and see..

IT curriculum of Kerala - has to improve

The following are the images from the notebook of a 8th Std student studying in Kerala syllabus school. . This curriculum creates aversion towards computers and is boring and adding unnecessary intellectual load and emotional stress in children. In this the children has to cram up operating menus in steps like 'click' and then reproduce in the exams...

(Respected IT Executive Director accepted that the issues raised here as genuine and has stated that by next academic year no student has to write a written exam on IT and the assessment will be based on practical tests only. He has also said that no student has to learn ICT as 'what is computer' etc way and will definitely look into it. That is a great help to lakhs of school children as the new system might reduce their learning burden)

"Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE) does not mean conducting examinations every 15 days": Kapil Sibal

Our stupid educational administration community has been doing just that- conducting comprehensive and continuous evaluation every 15 days. Our poor children have to attend class tests, monthly tests Onam and Christimas exams and final tests. The people who frame curriculum envisages reducing learning burden of children; but what they do is interpreted to overload the school child by the lakhs of educational administration bosses in India.

No fans in Classrooms; schools harassing children

Open letter to Minister and authorities

My children are studying in ******** School, *********. They report that since last many days there is no electricity in their classrooms. On further enquiry I understood that the school authorities are trying to save electricity charges by cutting off electric supply to lower classrooms. My children reports that they are suffering immense heat due in their classroom due to this. Is this not called child harassment?

Most classes have 60-70 students and there is no adequate ventilation or fans. This is the situation even in private schools collecting fees and donations.

Whom will the poor students complain?? Is there an administration machinery here that will look into the human rights aspects of school students?

Even grown ups these days do not sit in wooden benches in a crowded classroom of 60-70 pupils, suffering heat due to lack of fans, and listen to lectures of teachers from morning till evening every day for a whole year??

Government must intervene and ensure that schools provide adequate number of fans in the classrooms and also use them.
