Dismiss government and aided B.Ed college teachers and recruit them as contract teachers -let their be equality

Dr. Ramakrishnan is advocating for the interest of the privileged government teachers who snatch away most of the resources in the education sector, that is highly discriminatory towards the private and self financing college teachers. It is shameful that he is trying to vest with government / aided college teachers, who constitute just a small proportion of teacher educators (<10%), all rights and privilages, and failing to see that the teachers of the private and self financing B.Ed colleges, though equally qualified, suffer from very poor service conditions without job security, promotions, designations as 'Professors', 'Readers' etc., no pay scale and just small consolidated pay with no allowances or pension, etc.

Ninety percent of B.Ed college teachers in the State work in the private /self financing sectors and they are deprived of all the facilities that their counterparts in government and aided colleges enjoy. Even though the teachers of the private and self financing colleges are qualified equally as that of government college teachers and even more, even their services are not recognized - a clear case of human rights violation and discrimination.

Ninety percent of B.Ed teachers are lady teachers and they are not organised into associations and lack political clout. Their employments are highly insecure and they are exploited by the private managements and the university. But they do not dare to speak against the injustices meted out to them. Even their teaching experiences are not recognized by the PSC or University and as a result the teachers working in the aided and govt. department always get upper hand in recruitments to university posts of faculty members and administration. What right have the teachers in government /aided colleges to keep for themselves all privileges and get paid high salaries in UGC scale with pension, while 90% of teachers in the State do not get just a small fraction of what they get.

It is high time that government and the Universities stop discriminatory treatment between teachers of private/self financing and of govt./aided colleges. All teachers with qualifications prescribed by the UGC, whether working in the private or aided or government or self financing colleges, must be equally treated for the purpose of salary and service conditions, promotions, privileges, and every other aspect. Otherwise, the government and the universities should stop paying high salaries and give better service conditions to their favoured 'permanent' teachers of government and aided colleges, dismiss them and recruit them as contract teachers with consolidated small pay at par with the private /self financing college teachers. Let all suffer equally !!
